Porridge Time Review

Porridge Time Review

Last Wednesday (2/5/2012) our class ended earlier  at 10.30am then we celebrated the Teacher’s Day together in Multiple Purpose Hall. The Teacher’s Day celebration was so awesome and touching. With the suggestion of friends, we went to the Porridge Time which located in the Asian Avenue. Porridge Time is an eatery that serves Chinese cuisine and we were eager to try out the food there.

Porridge Time is a small stall and only serves plenty of seats. Fortunately, we found a table seat as there was very crowded. The waiters give us the menu simultaneously when we sat down. The menu was quite good and useful because it consists of every picture of the porridge, price, side orders and drinks as well.

We ordered soya milk and herbal tea to drink. We had choose shredded chicken porridge with salted egg, shredded chicken porridge with preserved egg because I have ate it before and it tasted yummy. Besides the price was cheap too which is RM 7.00 each. We then decided to order innards porridge although we never ate it before.

In fact, the Porridge Time do not decorated as well as the Pasta Zanmai Restaurant and smaller but the surrounding of the Porridge Time was very clean and tiny which had impressed me. All the waiters were wearing uniform and their hairs were tied up. We also notice that majority of the customers were workers. It might because of the foods tasty, big in size and the price was cheap.

After a short while, our drinks and foods were served by the waiters. We had surprised by the speedy service since there were lot of customers.

The soya milk tasted sweet, smooth and fulfilled with the smell of fresh soya beans. And the colour of it was dim cream-coloured. The herbal tea was a bit bitter and has a sweet aftertaste. Although it tasted bitter, it is good for our health. Both of the drinks have the same price which is RM 2.90.

Before we started ate the porridge, the scent of it has already wafting though the air make us mouthwatering. The shredded chicken porridge with salted egg (left) was “lip-smacking”. The porridge was warm, smooth and velvet taste. Other than that was the salted egg folk, it was orange-red coloured, tasted not over salty which was very savory.  After that we ate the shredded chicken porridge with preserved egg. The preserved egg which was black in colour do look weird and scare but it was so chewy and it taste awesome. Lastly, we had tried the innards porridge (right). The innards part was fried and it had matched perfectly with the white porridge. Therefore, I thought it was pleasant to eat.

We ordered you tiao as our side dish. Although it is a fried food, it does not taste greasy. It was crispy and the pairing with the porridge was amazing.
After finishing our foods, we ordered two more syrup as the dessert. The syrup black in colour was Ching Bo Leong (left) . It consists of several herbal such as white fungus and minces. It was so palatable and tasted honey. Another syrup we had ordered was sweet potato syrup (right). The sweet potato was extremely soft and floury. It might looks odourless and tasteless but it actually very tempting, appealing and luscious. Each of the syrup cost RM 3.90.

We had finished all the foods and we really enjoy while eating it. The service of the waitress was efficient and they were friendly. The ambience was quite noisy because of many patrons here. However, it would not affect our mood. We all were enjoyed the lunch greatly. Therefore, we had planned to have another lunch in there soon.
